A fissure sealant is a restoration that is recommended for teeth with deep pits or fissures that can be difficult to clean.

After a fissure sealant is placed, it is much easier to remove plaque and bacteria when brushing.

Fissure sealants help to prevent decay from developing however it is still mandatory to maintain good oral hygiene i.e. brushing and flossing twice a day and seeing your dentist regularly to monitor and maintain your teeth.
