Cosmetic Dental Veneers

With Surfers Paradise Dental Centre's cosmetic dentistry veneers, your teeth will look so bright and beautiful they'll be nothing short of "Wow!".

Our SPDC dentists are the experts when it comes to transforming teeth using only the finest quality dental veneers available for cosmetic dentistry.

A dental veneer is a thin covering applied to the front surface of a tooth to modify its shape or colour and dramatically improve its appearance, similar to the way an acrylic nail transforms a person's natural nail.

Dental veneers can be applied to one or more teeth individually, though they are usually reserved for the front teeth, where appearance counts.

They're a great solution for correcting:

  • Discoloured teeth (though we may recommend you try bleaching first as it's the more conservative option)
  • Slightly misaligned teeth, where orthodontics is not an option for you
  • Teeth that are misshapen or have chips
  • Gaps between teeth

To bring out the finest in your teeth, SPDC dentists provide two types of dental veneers in cosmetic dentistry:

  1. Composite Resin Veneers (also simply known as 'Composite Veneers') - This more conservative option can be repaired, repolished and removed, if need be, much easier than with porcelain veneers. They can also be applied without much of an impact to the underlying natural tooth. And because they are sculpted directly onto the tooth surface, a mould and second appointment is usually not needed. While a composite resin veneer looks great, a porcelain veneer looks even better.

  1. Porcelain Veneers (also known as 'Ceramic Veneers') - These dental veneers are custom made outside the mouth using a precise mould of the teeth. They look terrific and are long-lasting, but are less easy to repair. So that the veneer looks good, fits the shape of your smile and is strong enough to last, a small amount of the surface of the tooth needs to be reduced in order to accommodate a porcelain veneer.

Composite and porcelain veneers are really only suitable for teeth with good enamel coverage so the veneers can bond to the teeth better for longer. They're also best for teeth with no or a small amount of filling, otherwise a dental crown may be the better option.
